Families are welcome to come cheer on their runners as spectators, making it a great opportunity to support the kids and join in the excitement. Be sure to check with your child’s teacher or room parent for the specific time their class will be running.

Not only is the Fun Run a day full of energy and fun, but it’s also one of the school’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Your participation helps support important programs and activities at Discovery Elementary.

Last night, our school transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and celebration at our annual Arts on the Green! The event was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talents of our students and bringing our community together for a night to remember. 

As guests strolled along the art walk, illuminated by charming market lights, they were treated to a feast for the senses. The walls were adorned with stunning displays of students’ writing and art, each piece a testament to their creativity and imagination. 

The evening was filled with music as each grade took the stage to perform songs about weather, the overarching theme of the event. From sunny melodies to rhythmic songs about rain, our students’ performances captivated the audience and brought smiles to all faces. 

But the excitement didn’t stop there! Guests had the opportunity to bid on fantastic items at the silent auction, with proceeds supporting our school’s programs. Meanwhile, food trucks served up delicious treats, satisfying appetites as attendees mingled and enjoyed the festivities. 

For those looking for a bit of friendly competition and fun, each class had set up a game booth with various activities, providing endless entertainment for guests of all ages. 

Arts on the Green was not just an event—it was a celebration of creativity, community, and the incredible talents of our students. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening a tremendous success.

Mark your calendars and check out the official flyer (below). It’s going to be an evening filled with music, visual arts, a silent auction, and so much more. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable celebration of the arts!

Parents, teachers, and community members line the sidelines, armed with colorful banners and handmade signs, ready to cheer on the young participants. The sound of cheers and encouraging chants fills the air, creating a symphony of support for the young runners. 

The course is a kaleidoscope of colors, with children clad in vibrant t-shirts, each representing their respective classes or teams. From the smallest kindergarteners to the confident fifth-graders, every participant is determined to give their best and cross the finish line with pride. 

Every participant has prepared weeks for this event, helping to raise money to support academic enrichment programs for their school. Every one of them has made a difference.

As the whistle blows, the race begins, and the children set off, their feet pounding in rhythmic harmony. Some start with a sprint, while others pace themselves for the long haul ahead. Regardless of their strategy, each child is fueled by the cheers of the spectators, pushing them to reach new heights of determination and resilience. 

Along the route, spectators eagerly offer high-fives, water, and words of encouragement, spurring the runners on with every step. Parents proudly snap photos and videos, capturing memories that will be cherished for years to come. 

As the first runners approach the finish line, the crowd erupts into applause, cheering them on as they cross triumphantly. But the cheers don’t stop there—every child who crosses the finish line is met with enthusiastic applause and cheers of “You did it!” and “Way to go!” The sense of accomplishment is palpable and each student walks away with a newfound sense of pride and confidence, knowing that they can achieve anything they set their minds to and that they’ve worked hard to support their school through their fundraising efforts. 

As the event draws to a close, the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship lingers in the air. Students and spectators alike leave with smiles on their faces and hearts full of memories, eagerly looking forward to next year’s Fun Run. 

In the end, the Discovery Elementary School Fun Run is not just about crossing the finish line—it’s about the journey, the community, and the joy of cheering each other on every step of the way. It’s about the school community coming together to make a difference.
